Daniel Kluger is a composer and music producer based in New York.
He produces genre-defying scores for some of the most innovative theater directors, including Anne Kauffman, Sam Gold, David Cromer, Trip Cullman, Daniel Fish, Gaye Taylor Upchurch, Giovanna Sardelli, Peter DuBois, Oliver Butler, Arin Arbus and more.
Recent Broadway work includes the revival of MARVIN’S ROOM, directed by Anne Kauffman (starring Janeane Garofalo & Lili Taylor) and the world premiere of SIGNIFICANT OTHER, directed by Trip Cullman, starring Gideon Glick.
Kluger scored the critically acclaimed off-Broadway premieres of ANIMAL (starring Rebecca Hall), and THE VILLAGE BIKE (starring Greta Gerwig, directed by Sam Gold) as well as the lauded NYT Critics’ Pick MAN FROM NEBRASKA by Tracy Letts, directed by David Cromer.
Further work with Cromer includes the off-Broadway commercial production of TRIBES at the Barrow Street Theatre (Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Best Sound Design), and Ethan Coen’s stage play WOMEN OR NOTHING at the Atlantic Theater Company.
Upcoming (to be formally announced) will be the New York premiere of Daniel Fish’s visionary revival of OKLAHOMA! for which Kluger (with the blessing of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Estate) created entirely new and idiomatic orchestrations of this classic score for traditional bluegrass instruments.
Kluger has produced dozens of other scores for Off Broadway theaters including Lincoln Center, Roundabout Theatre Company, The Atlantic, Second Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard Theater, and more, as well as some of the country’s premier regional theaters: The Mark Taper Forum, The Ford's Theater, Yale Repertory Theater, etc. Kluger is currently under commission to South Coast Repertory Theatre for a collaboration with playwright/screenwriter Olivia Dufault.
With collaborator Todd Almond, he created new orchestrations for the film adaptation of Michael John LaChiusa’s HELLO AGAIN, directed by Tom Gustafson (starring Audra McDonald & Martha Plimpton).
